Easy shell toddler skirt


 

 
I always wanted to make something for my daughter 
So I decided to make  a skirt. 
With all the  stitches I learned from every crocheted stuffs I made, 
I designed my own pattern although sometimes 
the problem if it will fit her or not. ( but lucky it did :) ) 
Shell stitch is always my favourite. 
This will fit 2-3 years old or you could make it bigger 
just add chain.

Here is my pattern :

Materials:

5mm hook
piece of ribbon for belt
scissor
4 seasons stallion 8 ply 100% acrylic-
 100g but soft yarn

Colour:
A- red
   B- white
  C- green


With color A

Ch79, or more for bigger sizes, sl, st. to form a round skirt,  
and be careful not to twist it.

R1:
Ch1, 1 SC each st. around. sl st.

R2:
Ch3, treble crochet (yarn over twice) each st. around. 
sl. st. to the top of ch3. 
( this row is where you put your piece of ribbon as a belt).

R3 and R4 :
Ch1, hdc each st. around, sl. st to close.

to start the shell stitch

R5 - R6 : 
Ch3, 1 dc same st, ch2, dc 2 same space, 
skip 2 sts , in the next st, 
(*2 dc, ch2, 2dc) repeat this row* until the end of the row. 
sl. st to close.

R7- R9: 
( Change colour to B, or colour of your choice or
 if you want to do one colour that will work fine)
               Sl. st to the shell space (middle) (ch3, dc2, ch2, dc3) same space.
(* dc3, ch2, dc3) next shell space, repeat* until the end of row. 
sl, st to the top of ch3.

R10- R13 :
(Change colour to C) repeat row7.

for the edging:

sl. st to the middle of shell space, ch3, then dc5,  
*dc6  next shell space and repeat* 
until the end of row. 
sl. st. to the top of ch3.

sl st to the next st., sc in the middle of shell space, 
skip next st., then do dc5, 
 skip 2 sts., sc next st., skip next st.,
 then dc5 next st.
 *skip next 2 sts., sc next st., 
skip next st., then dc5 next st., 
repeat* until the end of row. 
sl., st and your done.

Fasten off and weave ends. add the ribbon for the belt.

* You can add rows to your liking.
